NORTH FACE COATS

A durable, weather-resistant coat is a non-negotiable item for backpackers. North Face coats are a popular choice thanks to their high-quality materials and versatile designs. Their ThermoBall™ Eco Jacket is lightweight, packable, and provides excellent insulation in cold weather.

If you expect rainy conditions, the North Face Venture 2 Jacket is a great option, offering waterproof protection without compromising breathability. These jackets are built to handle a variety of environments, from urban streets to rugged mountain trails.

I mean just look how good we look in ours. No better advert for North Face than the picture above!

A 1/4 ZIP FLEECE

A 1/4 zip fleece is an essential layering piece that provides warmth without adding bulk. It’s perfect for chilly mornings or evenings and can be easily removed when you warm up on the trail. Consider these two standout brands:

  • Patagonia: Their 1/4-Zip Fleece combines style and performance, made from 100% recycled materials with a soft, comfortable feel. It is slightly more expensive but if you’re willing to splash the cash this is the fleece for you.

  • Regatta: The Budget Freindly choice that won’t break the bank but still keep you toasty. We tend to lose our fleeces so picking up one of these for no more than £15 is exactly what we’d do. And they come in all the colours you could ever want!

SNOOD DUDES

We know what you guys are thinking, they look good in those snoods and we couldn’t agree more. But on a serious note we use these snoods every day we hike and during our travel days.

Perfect to protect yourself from the dust and dirt, also protects your neck from the sun. But most importantly it can cover your sleeping face on those long haul flights.

So we bought our snoods on the road however if you can’t wait we understand. Here is the best brand we have some across with a wide range of colours and patterns for you to choose from.

Hiking Trousers

Cheers by the way! But doing our best to ignore the cups of tea, the true heroes in this picture are our hiking trousers!! Hiking trousers are a staple for any backpacking adventure. Look for options that are lightweight, quick-drying, and durable. Two highly recommended brands are:

  • Columbia: Their Silver Ridge Convertible Pants are versatile, allowing you to zip off the legs to transform them into shorts. The fabric wicks moisture, blocks UV rays, and is perfect for variable weather.

  • Prana: Known for their sustainable approach, Prana’s Stretch Zion Pants offer excellent mobility and comfort, thanks to their stretchy fabric and abrasion-resistant design. They’re ideal for both hiking and casual wear.

We know how difficult it is to look presentable while out on the road as you can probably tell but investing in good quality stash can really set you up for success!

Also check out our blog post on “How much to pack?”. We are well aware of the stress some can go through when deciding how much they may need for their trip but we got you covered. After so many times we have overpacked and even more times under-packed, we feel we’ve finally got the balance right.
